New - Weekly Squad Update

Junior and Senior Green
Well I must say things are much more to my liking this season in both squads. We are all starting to develop lots of good habits. A correct stream line off the wall is becoming the norm; good turns and breast stroke break outs are also appearing in quantity and quality. Knowledge of drill sets is expanding. Swimmers are beginning to THINK... not all, but most.
Everyone must remember that good technique is the foundation of all fast swimming and that good technique can only be achieved by huge amounts of quality repetition and it must become a habit. In amongst all this we still have to find time for a little fun.
Club night is coming again, 2nd of December.  Please try to make yourself available for this. Why train so hard ,why get out of bed and come to the pool at 6am, why get yelled at by Coach Peter, why try to get a shark award if we don't race. COME ON ! It is also a short course meet, 25 fly for junior greens, promise.
Last of all I would like to mention one swimmer, I have lots of great improver's , thinkers, speedsters and characters in my groups but since last club night, Kiera Dwan has put her thinking swimmer's cap on and turned herself into a real go getter, fabulous work KIera keep it up - Coach Pete

Junior Blue swimmer of the week has worked very hard and earned her place on the Junior Gold squad; congratulations to Ria Zaman. Our goal is to improve everyday and gain the skills that will allow us to move up into the gold group. - Coach Monica

Junior Gold
I am gonna start with my junior gold group. On Tuesday, we couldn't swim due to the bad weather, so we had to do dry land training. We've been doing a lot of specific exercises to improve their coordination and even more sit-ups and planking for abs. On Thursday I had a large number of swimmers, so I was happy to see all of them. We focused on their speed, underwater work and streamline push offs. We had a great set of 6x(4x50) and they did pretty well, speed-wise and technique-wise and also they were disciplined and focused on what they've been doing.
Next week we are going to focus a bit more on their main-stroke, turns and dives.
Swimmer of the week is Ines Marcal.
Senior Blue
With my senior blue squad we had a good session on Tuesday afternoon, when they've been doing some aerobic sets and sprint sets with a longer rest. We worked on explosive power and speed. On Wednesday we had a gym and a water session, when we had a chance to do dives and quite a few sprints. On Thursday we couldn't swim, because the lightning alarm went off. So we did dry land, We've been doing core, leg and lower back exercises, to improve strength. At the end we had a bit of time to do more essential stretches for swimmers. Next week we'll work on the 4 strokes( IM ), technique and do more fast kicking sets.
Swimmer of the week is Teddy Lee - Coach Alex

Senior Gold
The past two weeks have seen a significant step up in intensity and volume. I'm now confident that the swimmers are in condition to handle this. I've been happy with the effort shown on these big sets as they are not only physically demanding but psychologically tough too. We had a successful weekend at the HS ACSIS meet. After a couple of easier days, we produced PB swims, even with short breaks between races and no swim down time. We have an IASAS exchange this coming week which will be another opportunity to race, learn, and improve! My goal is to help every swimmer strive to achieve an improvement every time they hit the water; every practice, and every race. We will meet after a yoga session on Monday to talk about the period from here through until winter holiday. While this week belonged to the boys and their ACSIS Championship win, our swimmer of the week is Emi Cashman. Emi has been outstanding in her effort since our first session in August. She is producing PB swims purely due to her hard work and perseverance. - Coach Aaron
