Weekly Summary

Our weekly summary:
Junior Gold Squad did a great job last week. We had a few tough sessions, when we've been doing a lot of broken IM sets and sprint kick sets, because it can develop their fitness level and improve stroke efficiency. And it develops an aerobic background for each of the strokes. And also the kids can work and improve their turns during this sets.
Next week we are going to do more fast and intensive kick sets, some freestyle test sets and practice dives and turns.
It was pretty difficult to choose the athlete of the week, but the reward goes to Mae Singer. Well done and good job to all of you guys.
My Senior Blue Squad swimmers have been doing dry land, stretching(flexibility) exercises due to the bad weather, but when we could get in to the pool as I've promised we did some quality IM sets and IM order sprint sets. Of course we didn't skip the aerobic freestyle sets. Next week Monday: endurance day, tuesday IM,main stroke day with some intensive kick sets and thurday: skill and drills, main stroke sprint sets, race-pace work.

Swimmer of the week is Elena Limanjaya. Well done guys.

Junior Blue:
I have done lots of 50 free sprints to help them with endurance and turns. To reinforce their stamina and correct technique to keep them motivated and try their best in every session. The stroke I chose was fly, and I introduced a lot of drills that can help them to develop the right technique and to encourage them to love swimming butterfly. At the same time they worked on their starts, turns and finishes.
When we did dry land my main focus was on the core muscles and stretching.
The swimmer of the week is Zoe Cox.

Senior Green
I did similar but more sprints and I timed them with short rests to hold the time between each 50. The last 20 minutes of the session they worked from the blocks, doing springs.
The swimmer of the week will be Brendan Corrigan because of his enthusiastic attitude to try his best every time. Well done!!!!

The Senior Gold Squad started a new training block two weeks ago and have responded well. We've hit the gym a little harder and have begun doing more work on main strokes versus the freestyle focus from season one. We have also had the opportunity to swim in meets two weeks in a row. It was unfortunate to be missing so many swimmers this past weekend at the IASAS Exchange as it was a great meet and the swimmers that did attend, swam fast! This coming week we are getting back to some endurance work along with speed endurance sets - it'll be a tough week.
With such big improvements from so many, it is difficult to single out swimmers. Some swam 100% PBs, some swimmers tackled events for the first time, and were incredibly nervous doing so but everyone gave their best effort and raced well. What has struck me over the past two weeks is what great support we are giving each other and how much fun everyone is having on pool deck - this is what meets are about. The swimmer of the week is pictured to the above. Congratulations
