Weekly Summary

Well it was great to see so many of my swimmers at the last club night. The other more pleasing thing was how well you all swam. I am, along with coach Aaron, very happy with the improvements across Junior and Senior greens. Congratulations also goes to those swimmers in those squads that swam at the Santa Claus meet. You all did a mighty job there.

It has been free style week, our main work stroke . One that has to be swam well all the time. Huge improvements in the junior greens, the big stand out with her stroke is Stephanie, she swam absolutely beautifully this morning. A big thumbs up to all the Junior greens that make morning sessions.
In the senior greens it is a case of lets all get better. There is a growing group of swimmers that are not only looking good but going good too. The latest one to step up to that group is Leo Chakravaty. His last session was all a coach could ask for, focused, taking on board information and then using it, working hard and looking good. Well done Leo great job.
Breast stroke week next week ,don't forget to get on you tube and have a look at the stroke and what you should look like. One week to go before holidays please keep coming and please keep up the good work.

           A very happy coach Peter.

Senior Blue
This week, it was great to see most of the swimmers participating in the club night.
Some had good PB's.
This week, I worked a lot on endurance by having them swim a lot of 100 FR's, to encourage consistent high performance on starts, turns and finishes. I add 100 IM sprints to make sure they hold their time with good technique, and to keep them challenging one another.
The swimmer of the week Dhruv Narayanan for always trying his best with good positive attitude.

Junior Blue
Well done to those who participated in club night. This week we worked on IM a lot to ensure that they maintain good times with good starts, turns and finishes. We also worked on Breastroke technique, focusing on the underwater pullout, and a good glide between every stroke. I also focused on making sure the swimmers don't bring their hands too far past their shoulders and I make sure that their strokes are perfectly symmetrical.
The swimmer for this week is MinLin Leong for her consistent effort to improve in her swimming.
Monica

This week been pretty tough for our swimmers, as we had our 3rd Club Night on Tuesday afternoon, a great gym and water session on Wednesday morning and a stroke specific training on Friday morning. And I know that everybody tried to work hard and race well, to produce their best performance.
This week I don't want to choose the swimmer of the week, I just want to say well done to my junior gold and senior blue squad swimmers, for being positive, hardworking, enthusiastic and focused.
Next week is our last week of school, before we will go on a long holiday, but we still gonna have a 1 week camp, which is awesome, as we gonna have a double training sessions and dry-land, unfortunately not everyone can be there. Thats why next week we will gonna develop the endurance with some high-performance endurance sets( like, critical speed, MVO2), anaerobic ( race-pace training) and a smallest amount of sprint training.

Go Phoenix
Coach Alex.

This week has been a tough one for the Senior Gold squad - not because of the work, but because the SEASAC Team was announced - in a conference that allows five swimmers per gender per age group (15-19), there are always going to be disappointments and questions of how the team was chosen...I think I explained this in a post previously but obviously no one (swimmers) read it!!!
Anyway, there are swimmers who have worked their butts off since I arrived in August, who have not made the team and I'm sure they feel cheated or hard done by - I feel for them and know their team mates are supporting them. I said in our team meeting after ACSIS that there are no guarantees in sport except  "if you don't prepare, you will fail. You may prepare and still fail, but at least you gave yourself a chance". Sometimes you learn more about yourself from the disappointments that you suffer than the successes. I want to acknowledge the swimmers on my team for their hard work and perseverance...so far. Two swimmers have given everything this year (every session that they attend), and have had a tough week but I know they have great character and will continue to improve and grow. Both Charlotte and Ethan are training machines and the team gets inspiration from them when it gets tough - especially Charlotte in the gym - MACHINE!
The SEASAC swimmers now have attendance targets to hit, and to be fair, if they don't, they will be replaced.
We are loving our Crossfit Coach Tony Faneco's sessions on Wednesday mornings and look forward to the "12 Days of Christmas Workout this Wednesday!
