A weekend of great swims!

Two Dover Phoenix Swim Team groups competed this weekend. Here are the meet reports:

AIS Novice Meet

The following PreComp swimmers had swam their first meet outside the college on Saturday.
Gabriella Waugh,
Rohan Wadhwa, Allie Song, Sam Collison, Max Collison, Francesca Lee, Vanessa Snyder, Minami Wada, Adam Howie, Scarlett B.James, Lucas Gillespie,

Leanna van der Kam

It was a great fun weekend afternoon for our young swimmers who had not swum in an
external swim meet before.

Lot's of excitement and a few nerves were felt as our team did very well, showing plenty of Phoenix team spirit!

Coach Henry is very proud for all of our swimmers performances, pointing out that most importantly it was great exposure for the first time swimmer, rather than tackling a big meet.
He says that all swimmers have agreed that good technique was part of racing and will put more effort in their training session to continue working on stroke length and efficient technique

ISB Splash

21 swimmers and 17 parents spent the weekend at ISB for their annual Splash meet. This 15th edition included a short course meet on Saturday and a long course meet Sunday.

Not only did the the team compete well, win races and hit many, many PB times, but they supported each other all the way to the end of the meet, as illustrated in the photo (right) of Josh swimming his (14sec PB) 400m Freestyle which was the very last race.

The spirit wasn't just evident at the pool, but on the bus, at the hotel, dinner etc.
A huge thank you to the mums and dads that made this trip such fun. They too joined the spirit and supported every swimmer that lined up.

It would not be surprising to see a few tired swimmers today, possibly suffering mild diabetic shock after consuming a massive quantity of sugar post-meet.

The value of the overseas trips was evident even before we took off from Changi. The team was already gelling while we waited for the flight, and grew closer as the trip went on.
I know the swimmers will be energised and motivated to continue their training and work toward our last few meets of the year.
Congrats to Felix Schoppe for not only swimming very well, but for being such a positive role model for the young swimmers. He did a wonderful job as team captain!!
