What that means is being specific when we do things. Not just talking about pace, but swimming at pace, knowing what race pace is, knowing what it feels like, and training at that pace during the appropriate sets.
When race time comes, we will have practiced exactly what we intend to achieve...many times over, so it will be almost a habit.
Today we talked about our old nemesis - the streamline.
After many late nights spent watching the World Championships, I saw the winners were those with the best skills. Even in the 800m and 1500m freestyle, Katie Ledecky stayed underwater for 10m on every turn. She broke the world record in both events by huge margins.
Our session with Dr. Jay-Lee Nair was excellent. Hopefully you are hearing good things at home too. We sent some sheets home with the swimmers- these were used as a process to help reach goals and create specific tasks or actions that will lead to achieving them. We will review these on Friday.
On a not so great note, I am now substantially shorter than Jacob, Seb, and Pietro...but definitely heavier!
