Merlion Wrap Up

The coaches were pleasantly surprised at the level of swimming today - with little time spent in the water, we were always going to be a little weak at the end of races, but the strength gains that we have made over the haze period has given us a good foundation to build on.
I have to say how proud I am of this team. The level of commitment has been amazing as we strive to be better every day. This period we have just worked through has been trying at times, and the swimmers have endured some very tough days - 3-4 hours of land training a day makes for very sore muscles - it would be silly not to expect some complaints - in fact swim coaches don't enjoy their work unless they know their athletes are in pain. Those swimmers who have persevered, look strong in the water, and when we get some good work in the pool under our belts, I know we will see some great swimming.
That being said, it wasn't like there were not fast times today! Well done!

The focus that we have had recently has been on streamlines, (sound familiar?) three fly kicks off the wall and two strokes before taking a breath (Fr). We saw a good number doing this consistently today under pressure - Well done!

We have also spent some time on starts, which were improved, but not yet where we want to be - regardless - Well done.
Today was an outstanding first meet for us. It wasn't about PBs even though there were many; Swimmers should be happy with their progress and ready to take things to another level.
