As you may have heard, Gordon is leaving the shores of Singapore and returning to Scotland. We knew when Gordon came to us that his stay was not likely to be a long-term stint, but I was very keen to have him on board so we could learn from him.
During his time with us, he has had a large role in our re-structure/ re-schedule, in our competitive program curriculum, and in focussing on WIN - What's Important Now.
Our junior swimmers have had Gordon on deck in the mornings and the Dolphins and swim fit in the afternoons. We have seen a dramatic improvement from those squads, particularly in the way they perform fundamental skills...streamlines "hand on hand, wrist on wrist, elbows behind the head, and shallow, narrow, fast kick" are examples of phrases you'll hear being drilled.
We have had some great conversations about racing, technique, psychology, physiology, who swam what time, and when...lots of swimming stuff. We have been very lucky to have Gordon's experience and expertise to draw from during his short stay in the Phoenix family. He will be departing at the beginning of June.
Thanks Gordon!!
