Some of you may remember the goal-setting sheet that I posted last academic year.
I would like swimmers in the middle school and senior school competitive squads to consider going through this sheet between now and the start of activity season 1.
(Coach Sarah will go through some goal-setting exercises with Junior Comp swimmers separately)
Once regular season starts, we will speak to swimmers who have completed this sheet individually and make suggestions of our own. Goal-setting really is an incredibly helpful tool to help everyone get the most out of their swimming (and life). It ensures that the swimmer and coach are on the same page, motivation levels tend to be higher in people who set goals, and it also serves as a great method of 'reminding' yourself of the important things to focus on.
Please go through this process based on your own goals, rather than copying a friend, or saying what you think the coach 'wants to hear'. Everyone in the swim team will have different targets within swimming, ranging from lifestyle goals to high performance results.
There is a small section at the end where you can enter your target weekly sessions. Your coach can discuss with you how appropriate this number is based on your goals.
Once you have completed this exercise, it would be helpful to have it in your bag (or saved on a phone) so that your coach can chat it through, and we can add the details to our notes.
