February Time Trials (Junior and SSA)

Hi all

Thanks for your patience over the CNY break. We had a few minor issues exporting the results from the department computer, but all seems fine now.

Please click the appropriate link below to view the results from the UWC Phoenix Junior Time Trials (9th February) and the SSA National Time Trials (9th-11th February).

There were very few missed times due to 'soft touches' on the timing pads, and no false starts at all during the afternoon. Considering this was the first time many of the younger swimmers had taken part in a swimming race situation, this was brilliant to see. Most people were turning and finishing with 2 hands on fly and breast, and there were many tumble turn attempts from the less experienced swimmers.

These meets are designed to put all the work from training into a (hopefully) fairly low-stress racing situation. These practice races are not only important for showing off these skills, but over time, they may give a swimmer an indication of how competitive they hope to be in this great sport.

Great job everyone!

The SSA Time Trials are the final opportunity for swimmers to post qualifying times for the Singapore National Age Group (SNAG) Championships.

These are very much 'no frills' meets, swimmers are in a tough phase of training, and the atmosphere can be a but dull. However, swimmers usually compete well purely due to their desire to qualify for the SNAG competition, and because they know that it's a final chance to practice their racing skills against fairly high level competitors prior to the focus meets in March.

This year was no exception, with a very good PB percentage of 65.5%.

Just a few more weeks of training until SNAGs - Keep up the great work!
