Christmas Camp Day 2

I was really pleased with today's work. We did a lactate tolerance set this morning - it is exactly what it sounds like.
Quite a few of the team from East Campus joined us and will swim through the rest of the week. This is a good opportunity to see the swimmers from our sister school; a team that has achieved much, get to know them better, and maybe even learn from them. They were met today with a disappointingly frosty reception from many of our swimmers - swimming is definitely not a sport that needs that sort of attitude. I plan on us Phoenix spending more time with the East Dragons in the future. We may travel as one team to some meets that demand tougher qualifying standards. We can leave the attitudes until we are behind the blocks. I was impressed with their discipline and willingness to get on with the workout - especially as they don't know me from a bar of soap (does anyone use those anymore?).

This afternoon we enjoyed a yoga session and a speed session.

Tomorrow: Anaerobic Threshold(AM) and Time Trials (PM) - the time trials will consist of a meet warm-up and then sprint (50m) and a 100m for the younger swimmers and a 200m swim for the older swimmers. The swimmers will help timing - this is just a chance to race for the younger kids, and to practice the events for the older swimmers.

Parents are very welcome to join us on Friday at Sentosa; the plan is to have a few games, a run-swim -run and just hand out together...there will be down time for the kids to just PLAY!

We ask that everyone prepares sunscreen and water - we will have subway and more water also.
