The week that was...

Sometimes when I am coaching my squads it is hard to gauge how all my swimmers are going. This is particularly true in the junior and senior greens where the emphasis is very much on building strokes, starts, turns and finishes. It is a steady process; so when I see them swim in a competition it gives me a good idea how they are progressing. I was very happy with everyone that swam at Club Night. The enthusiasm everyone hit the water with was outstanding. Yes there is still lots to do but you all did a really great job. Your turns are starting to work, your strokes are getting better, yes even your fly has come a long way. The most gratifying thing for me and should be for you tons of PBs .
A really great job to all who swam. (Breaststroke next week)
Coach Pete

I think this week was absolutely the busiest week for us since January. We've got Club night on Tuesday, last week from Friday until Sunday junior SNAG and this week 6 days of the senior SNAG at OCBC AQUATIC CENTRE. I am happy and at the same time a bit sad, (mixed feelings) honestly it's because of the number of swimmers who did sign up for this amazing swim meet, they had tried their best, have been racing hard and showing a great attitude and example to everyone. I hope next year it's gonna be even more popular among our team. Well done guys, I am very proud of you, looking forward to see even better results at Dragons Den invitational swim meet.

My senior blue squad did a great job, they've been working hard and made me feel very happy, even though I was hiding my feelings, but I can say that the top swimmers were Harit, Eleanor and Sara!!! Hats of guys!!! From my junior squad the top swimmer of the past few weeks was Ria, she came 5th at the junior SNAG and had a 100% performance, 4 Pbs out of 4 swims. I think let's be proud of her and try to challenge her! Always remember, that the hard work pays off, so stay motivated, believe in your coaches and first of all in your own potential. Go Dover Phoenix!!!!
Coach Alex

This week saw the second week of National Age Group Championships at the OCBC Centre (one
day to go...). Don't believe meet mobile's results!!! Some of the times aren't accurate.
We have had some very fine performances from our swimmers. Jean-Marc pulled off a 1:03 100m fly - a 2.5 second PB, Juliette swam a 50 Fly PB, a 1:02.1(1.3sec PB) 100m free and took another five seconds off her swim from SEASAC (which was a 10 second PB) in the 400m free today. Alex beat his 100m Back PB, Felix, Jacob, and Ethan swam well, Lauren took over a second off her 100m Free, and Sara took 4 seconds off her 100m Breast. Alard has swum six events so far. His smallest PB was 2.2 seconds but his 1500m Fr PB was 1min46.06, also 27seconds faster than his goal time. He swam a very strong 18:53.27
The trend I'm seeing is simple: The people doing the work are being rewarded. Some are chipping away slowly, and some are taking explosives to their previous bests and blowing them to smithereens. Congrats - well deserved. Next year we will take on this meet with numbers!

Club night was great - it was a chance to have many of our team members together who often don't get to mix. We'll make our next one a fun night. We do though have over 300 swimmers in our competitive squads but only 151 swam at club night - not so competitive???? Obviously there are other activities happening, so we will vary the nights for next year so that the same afternoons are not interrupted, and try to fit in a Club Night each month.
