The week that was...

Well the  junior  greens keep on impressing me. I had the pleasure of watching a few of you swim at the sports day held this week and you are already standing out from the crowd. We have been working on the streamline off the wall and our freestyle stroke this week . Thursday afternoon a group of ten did a amazing job at training on those skills.  Everything a coach could ask for and all got a much deserved shark award.
Senior greens this week have been lining up with the rest of the swim team to work with coach Aaron, Alex, Monica and myself . It has been a good experience for us all .

Breast stroke week next week . Try to have a look at the stroke on you tube , there are some great sites on swimming breast stroke like champions. Keep up the great work !!!!!!!!!! Coach Pete

As Coach Pete says above: fantastic to watch our junior swimmers doing so well in front of their friends at the Day of Swimming. I enjoyed watching you all swim well and more importantly, having fun!
We've done more lower intensity aerobic swimming this week focussing on technique. Our weekly workout with Tony was anything but low intensity - we are lucky to have Tony dreaming up tough workouts that test us physically and mentally.
We finished the week with a lactate production set on Friday morning - believe it or not, it is essential that we learn to produce lactate...then deal with the acidosis that follows.
Club Champs was a relatively low-key affair. Numbers were a bit disappointing, but the quality of the racing was good and made for a fast, fun event. June 17 is our pool party and awards will be given then.
Please do look ahead to summer and plan on doing something active, if not swimming - as I've said, this is a period when you should be training and sleeping/ recovering better than any other time. East have invited any of our swimmers to train with them over the break.
Our last full week ends June 12. We will swim mornings from 15-19 though with a little swimming and water polo.

This weekend saw some of our swimmers compete in the Bintan Triathlon with success:

Kenza 2nd girls' 14-15 years
Lauren 2nd girls' 12-13 years
Samir 3rd boys' 12-13
years
Teddy 3rd boys' 14-15
years
Charlotte 3rd girls' 12-13
years
Olivia 4th girls' 12-13
years - in her FIRST triathlon, and on a borrowed bike!

Congratulations!
