Alard, Alex, Teddy, Sid, Ana, Kathryn, Juliette, Kenza, Ethan, and Josh took part in the second Swim Stars 4km (5 laps pf an 800m course + a 100m run each lap) open water swim today and followed it up with a further 800m event at the NSRCC this morning.
Alard won the Open Men's 4km, while Juliette was second in the Open Women's 4km (Ana was a close forth).
They then took a short break - some swam another 800m (one lap) as an individual in the schools' division with Ethan placing third. The team pictured above swam a great lap in the teams' event. They were followed by NUS and our other team placed third - (Celia[east], Teddy, Kenza and Kathryn).
The team won a cheque for $200 which they have donated to the Phoenix Program to begin a fund toward purchasing new starting blocks! Thanks team!
These performances were a credit to the dedication to training that this bunch have made during the recent hazy period. Huge thanks to the parents who came along at 6:15 in the dark to support us! Special thanks to Stephanie Besse who joined me in a kayak to provide extra safety for the event.
