From Coach Alex:
Finally we could train and race without having any problems due to the weather, or something else. This week been tough for everybody, we had all morning practices, heavy drylands and 2 competitions.
Our Club Night, on Tuesday afternoon went well, with many young swimmers. Glad to see that our seniors and captains looking after the juniors, supporting them and being such a good leaders of Dover Phoenix Swim team.
Every Wednesday morning I have this great opportunity to work with our talented breaststrokers, on their technique, endurance and speed. As we all know, this stroke is one of the hardest among all 4 , it creates more resistance then any other strokes, it's difficult to learn, you have to focus on many details and it's the slowest. Glad to see that everybody working hard to achieve and learn as much as they can. Looking forward to our next session.
On Friday, after school the kids have been racing against SAS. It was a good, quick and very intensive swim meet. They've been swimming their events back to back, sometimes probably had less then 5 minutes break in between. But it was very useful to see that we still have to work on our starts, underwater kicks, turns and finishes. The American school students were slightly stronger off the walls, I know that our swimmers capability much bigger then theirs and also know, that everybody were extremely tired, injured or sick. So overall, I am happy with your performance and can't wait to see even better times next week, during the high school ACSIS.
Have a good rest, eat clean and I'll see you on Monday.
Swimmer of the week: Ria Zaman - Age Champion at Tanglin Sprint Festival
From Coach Aaron
I'm again pleased with this week's effort - as I have said many times, effort is what matters now - performance will take care of itself if you do the work and prepare. We finished the week strongly with some more difficult sessions, a quick fire duel meet, and topped it off with a big session this morning.
Tony has continued to work the senior groups hard and we have all benefitted from his sessions and energy.
Juliette and Sasza came prepared to lead on Friday (at our meet at SAS). These ladies are setting an outstanding example for our younger girls. The spirit on the bus ride north was INSANE!
Disappointing this week: attendance of Club Night - particularly the number of swimmers who signed up but didn't show. Attendance of Saturday practice - THE MOST IMPORTANT PRACTICE OF THE WEEK!
Monday look for the HS ACSIS Team Posting. This week: Info for our meet Nov. 21, Phuket Camp pricing, new caps arrive Wed/Thursday, more good weather!
Coach Aaron's swimmer of the week: Juliette and Sasza for their leadership pre-meet on Friday, and Mrs. Song for sending Rice Crispies on the bus - Thank you!
