The Week That Was...

The Last two weeks have been amazing, full of positive energy, great vibe and good attitude. We had middle, junior school ACSIS, first time trials and a club night. I'm very happy with our performance, lots of PBs, very fast times and the most important that we've been working as a Team( encouraging, supporting and cheering for each other). Congratulation to everybody, I'm really proud of all of you!
Club night went really fast and smoothly with our new timing system, it makes a huge difference and helps us to be more accurate with times.
On Wednesdays, my breaststroke squad have been showing me a significant progress, now you guys can hold your good technique and speed for much longer, but we still have a problem with our catch, sometimes it gets too small and narrow, here an example from the Hungarian olympic champion, Daniel Gyurta, how wide is actually the catch could be: he came 2nd in Athens(when he was 14) and only became an olympic champion after 8 tough years.

So lets work on it and try to change it.
And here are the top 10 signs that you are a great teammate, I know that it's been written more for water polo players, but there are some good and important points we should think about.

Tomorrow we are going to start our CNY camp, I hope it's gonna be crowded, intense and very useful. Also don't forget that next Saturday we have a meet over at SAS.
For those who are going to be away I wish a very safe and peaceful holiday, but try do not stop exercising, it's very important to always keep fit and eat clean.

See you next week,
Coach Alex.

It has been busy, that is for sure. We have finally launched our Team Unify platform after a long development period - some of you may have had access issues; hopefully they are fixed now. We will still use the blog, as this archives information for easy access and reference later. We will use the tools in Team Unify though, as this allows communication within squads, age groups, and the team as a whole - in a more direct and timely manner. For those of you who have not yet logged in, please do so ASAP, and update your details - the more accurate these records are, the easier we can reach you.
Within this next season (starting after the break) we will also be able to record and share video, workouts, and attendance with parents. This is through another TeamUnify system, so more information will be forthcoming on how to access this.
The past week was one to forget and remember at the same time. It was heartbreaking to announce my departure, and to talk with my swimmers face to face was very difficult - we shared a few tears! The highlight was seeing how close we have become and how strong the relationships and bonds are.  It has also been incredibly humbling to receive such support from many - I am so grateful - thank you! I'll be working with the college to ensure the my replacement keeps the momentum moving forward and is the right person for the role! This is important to me as I care about the swimmers and the program.
We have re-focussed and are working hard - Saturday was an example of another awesome effort. I can't wait for our series of upcoming meets!!! Swimmers should have so much confidence in where they are.

Kailey and Teddy (AKA: Save Up) swam 10km on Saturday to raise money for Tabitha Foundation - they raced the last km and looked great throughout - congrats guys

Camp is this week - 6:30-8:30am and 3-5pm. We will do some land and swim in the afternoons and swim mornings. Please be on-time
