Well done to everyone who raced and supported on Saturday at the Middle School ACSIS Swimming Championships.
UWC Phoenix finished 2nd over all in the girls event, and 3rd in the boys event.
There were some great swims, although as a team, we did lose many races by a very small margin (particularly due to poor finishes). This was especially telling in the girls team scores, where UWC Phoenix finished only 2 points behind SAS.
Although the results are secondary to the process at this stage in a swimmer's development, execution of skills such as starts, turns and finishes are very much part of the process. Racing well is also one of the best ways to increase motivation for training, and overall enjoyment of swimming.
With the focus competitions of the year ahead of us, we will begin increasing our focus on racing skills.
