As per our email from a couple of weeks ago, the annual club championships will take place on Saturday June 2nd. Sign-up will close on Thursday to allow us to enter all details in to the meet software. All trophy winners from last year should have now returned their trophies (to allow time for engraving).

2018 Club Championships
This will be the last racing opportunity of the academic year for most swimmers, and is a great chance for older students and younger students to chat and get to know each other. This is a really fun competition which is primarily aimed at promoting the team environment. It is expected that all swimmers in the competitive section of the swim team enter this competition if possible. Junior Seals may wish to speak with their squad coach to identify if this level of racing is appropriate.
The events and age groups will be the same as last year, and can be viewed at the bottom of this email.

We would also like for all age group winners from last year to return their trophies to the aquatics office as soon a possible.

Event Information
Arrival from 7:00am
Warm-up will commence at 7:30am
Racing will commence at 8:00am
Although there is a 15+ age group, we would still like to utilise the senior swimmers for some marshalling etc. as it is a great opportunity for the younger swimmers to get to know the senior swimmers in the team. There are few opportunities for the more experienced swimmers to pass on their knowledge and experience, and I would hate to lose this chance.
We will be running a BBQ, and Janice will be sending out a volunteer google form shortly to help with this (as well as some time keeping etc).
Events & Age Groups
Age groups (age on date of meet) 15+, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8/U
The meet will be short course
Each swimmer will be allowed to swim an Individual Medley and three other strokes - a limit of four events (plus optional 5th event of 200m or 400m Freestyle)
Swimmers will compete for separate 200m freestyle (12/under) and 400m freestyle (13/14 and 15+) trophies, and these events will not score points toward the AgeChampionship Trophy
Events for swimmers aged 8-12 Years:
1 - Mixed 12 & Under 200 Freestyle - Separate Trophy
3 - Mixed 12 & Under 50 Butterfly
5 - Mixed 12 & Under 50 Backstroke
7 - Mixed 12 & Under 50 Breaststroke
9 - Mixed 12 & Under 50 Freestyle
11 - Mixed 12 & Under 100 IM
Events for swimmers aged 13+ Years:
2 - Mixed 13+ 400 Freestyle - Separate Trophy
4 - Mixed 13+ 100 Butterfly
6 - Mixed 13+ 100 Backstroke
8 - Mixed 13+ 100 Breaststroke
10 - Mixed 13+ 100 Freestyle
12 - Mixed 13+ 200 IM
13yrs and over swimmers will swim 100m (three of four strokes) and a 200m IM (plus optional 5th event of 400m Freestyle)
12yrs and under will swim 50m (three of four strokes) and a 100m IM (plus optional 5th event of 200m Freestyle)
Points are scored as follows 20, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Age group champions will keep their trophy for a year and have their name engraved into its base - it will then be passed on the following year to the new champion
