Junior School ACSIS 2018

Hi all

Well first of all I need to thank the volunteers who helped make the competition on Saturday such a success. Junior School ACSIS Swimming is most likely the biggest participation and spectator competition that is hosted by a Singaporean International School, and it simply would not be possible without the numerous helpers on the day. We had parents, teachers, siblings and Swim Team members helping with marshalling, photography, time-keeping, food and drink distribution and even announcing. With the exception of some poor weather at the end of the day, the meet ran very well, and all visiting schools were very impressed. It was a great example of what can be achieved with the support of such a great group of swimmers, family and staff.

There were some great individual performances, as well as fantastic relay swims.

For many of the younger swimmers, this was the first time that they have raced with swimmers from other schools, and it can be quite a daunting experience. The great support from parents made this a much more enjoyable experience for the less experienced kids.

For most swimmers, this was the penultimate set of races before the academic year comes to a close (with the Club Championships taking place a week on Saturday). There were 66 best times posted out of a possible 78 (~ 85% of all individual swims), and I'm sure everyone swimming at the Club Championships will be motivated to target these new times.

The results are available at the bottom of this post, along with lots of great photos (courtesy of Tomoko Talwalkar). The photos are only available for viewing with a UWC account (for child protection reasons). Please feel free to download photos of interest, but please be mindful of child protection if sharing any on a public platform).

Thanks everyone
