The Week That Was...

Many swimmers have come down with illnesses this week. PLEASE DO NOT SEND KIDS TO SWIMMING IF THEY ARE UNWELL!

Coach Pete leaves us this week!
I know Coach Pete will leave us officially this week - he can be proud of the legacy he leaves behind: Because of Coach Pete, hundreds of children have learned to swim and most importantly for Pete, to love the water. He has seen many swimmers pass through learn to swim and up through the age groups and I know he gets a bit emotional when recalling some of the SEASAC successes that his former swimmers have had. I'll miss the morning routine...
"Morning Pete, how are ya?"
"Oh, not bad for an old bloke"
...and the noise and energy he brings to the start of the afternoon sessions. We wish you all the very best - be sure to drop by this week in the afternoon to say "gidday", and "see ya" to Coach Pete

It has been an excellent week to see that training has been well attended and the work ethic has been improving on a daily basis with consistent streamline. I am happy to see our swimmers very focused on doing the little things right in training all the time with this week focus on IM turns.
The results from last Saturday's Dover Invitational Meet was a good indication of the hard work you have put in during the many days of training. If you just roll through training, not
concentrating on great starts, great turns, a great finish and great technique, but then try to turn it all around on racing day, it's too late!! So please continue to make your success happen in training, then on race day, let the skills and techniques you have developed in training help you achieve your goals.
Remember your PB's are important as a guide to your improvements, but should not be the only base on how you feel about your swimming. Concentrate first on stroke perfection, Fitness improvements, motivation and as a result you will swim faster, better and smarter.
I would like to thank all of you for staying focused at training and making the most of the competitive opportunity to swim well.
Our swimmer for this week is India Howie. Keep up with the good work India!
Coach Monica

This week with my junior squad the plan was, to work on their all 4 strokes.
Due to the bad weather throughout the country we could practice fly on Monday afternoon, on Tuesday we had a great dry land session and on Thursday I had to squeeze into 1 session the other 3 strokes. They were really focused, have been working hard to get some quick times, their streamline position with 3 or more dolphin kicks off the wall is getting better. I feel that the hardest part of the session is still to understand how to read and calculate their times from the pace clock. But I know that very soon it's not gonna create any problems for them.

On Wednesday morning the big group of breaststrokers had an absolutely amazing session. Every week I can see that they are getting faster, more accurate, focused and way much stronger than before. Even at the end of the training session, some of them could actually bit their own PB times. So it shows, that the hard work will definitely gonna pay off.

One more week left before our camp and upcoming Christmas holidays. I'm looking forward to have the last Wednesday practice of the year and also would like to wish everybody a good luck for the Feeding Frenzy meet during the next weekend.
Have a good rest,

Coach Alex

Lightning!
Yep, the weather has played its part in disrupting this week's preparation. We did have very good morning sessions and sessions in the gym and a tough yoga session with Valerie on Thursday though.
We have moved to doing stretch cords before each afternoon session which gives very specific strength endurance.
We have a small group going to Bangkok to race in the Patana Feeding Frenzy on Friday with Gordon. These swimmers will get a couple of easier sessions later in the week - after the 12 Days of Christmas WOD on Tuesday. We will also have a 12 Poses of Christmas yoga session this Thursday - sure to be a tough one.
My swimmer of the week is Ethan Mak. Ethan has pushed very hard over the past few weeks - he finished the week with a well swum 7x200m Step Test that we did Saturday. Ethan is an excellent team mate who always encourages others to push hard. Great job dude!
