A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered to help today at the Special Olympics.
It was a long and hot day, and although the organisers may not always show their gratitude for this service, please remember that the event would not run without you. Without the volunteer timekeepers, marshalling helpers, information runners etc, the competitors would not have been able to showcase their own dedication and hard work.
I was fortunate enough to be based at the medal podium for much of the day, and the pride of the competitors and their parents during the ceremony confirmed how worthwhile your time was.
