Hi all
First of all, well done to those who competed over the last 10 days. As you'll see below, the results were fantastic at both the Junior and Senior competitions.
As was the case last year, our Grade 11 students were unable to compete due to the dates clashing with Grade 11 Project Week. This was a real shame, and definitely impacted the number of finalists we had at the Senior SNAGs, however the other swimmers really stepped up.
As this is the top level competition available for age group swimmers in Singapore, the focus in training does shift more towards racing prior to this competition. Although we need to careful not to put too much pressure on racing as students are still moving through their developmental pathway, it is still a nice skill to be able to swim fast at the right time.

Perhaps the biggest improvement for the future is to reduce the number of DQ races. The majority of these occurred during IM races (especially the butterfly to backstroke, and backstroke to breastroke turn). The officials were particularly strict on swimmers' bodies being on either their front or back at the correct time, and not passing 90 degrees in the wrong direction. Some of the decisions were questionable, however clearly the coaches will be working hard to ensure this doesn't happen again in the future.
The coaches all had a great time and we are extremely excited with the progress the UWC Phoenix swimmers are making.
Great job
Coach Kris
