Junior School ACSIS Team (19th May)

Hi all

We are pleased to announce the UWC Phoenix team for the upcoming Junior School ACSIS competition that we will be hosting on the 19th of May.

For those unfamiliar with ACSIS (Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools), this is a conference that has been set up to allow students to participate in friendly competition against other schools. The conference has been a great success so far, and has encouraged students from different schools to chat and become friends. It is also one of the reasons that Singapore has become the strongest country for sport in South East Asia in the International School circuit. All schools now have very strong sports programs in place, and a big part of that is due to schools, parents, coaches and students sharing their experiences and expertise with each another.

As students move towards High School, the ACSIS competitions become a little more competitive, and although still very friendly, students have a desire to outperform their counterparts from other schools. At Junior School ACSIS, there is a big focus on participation and enjoyment of the experience, and as hosts, we make a conscious effort to promote these two things.

With that in mind, students should certainly be excited at the prospect of participating in this very low stress introduction to competitive swimming team competitions. Unfortunately due to time constraints, and to keep team sizes similar across schools, we are limited to 40 students for this competition (10 x girls 9 & under. 10 x boys 9 & under, 10 x girls 11 & under, 10 x boys 11 & under). 

The team has been chosen based mainly on current competition times (for the younger age group this is mostly from the development meets that we run), as well as training strength and commitment.

Please find the list of swimmers selected below, and details of the event can be found on the team website. Please complete this Google Form indicating if you / your child is able to participate at this event.
