You will hopefully have noticed on the aquatics calendar that the club championships are scheduled to take place on Saturday 3rd June.
For some of you, this may be the last racing opportunity of the 2016/2017 academic year. The club championships last year was in fact my first experience of UWC Phoenix, and I hope this year's meet will be just as entertaining.
I noticed from previous posts (and the results on our system) that the sign-up for last year was lower than expected. At that time, Coach Aaron made the very valid point that swimmers who have signed up for competitive squads (HP, NAG, Senior, Junior) have committed to racing at internal meets as a minimum. It would be great to see a high number of swimmers in the team competing against their team mates this year.
We will release the sign up in a couple of weeks, but please make sure this competition is in your diary, and read the meet information below. The format will be the same as last year. This will build up a picture of team progression / depth over the years, as well as standardising the competition for the age group club champions.
We will also be adding in an extra age group from previous years (15+ years), as we have many grade 9 and above swimmers in the team.
We will be asking last year's age champions to return their trophies when the sign-up is opened.

Meet Information
- Age groups (age on date of meet) 15+, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8/U
- The meet will be short course
- Each swimmer will be allowed to swim an Individual Medley and three other strokes - a limit of four events (plus optional 5th event of 200m or 400m Freestyle)
- 200m and 400m events will not score points toward the Age Championship Trophy
Events for swimmers aged 8-12 Years:

- 13 years and over swimmers will swim 100m (three of four strokes) and a 200m IM (plus optional 5th event of 400m Freestyle)
- 12yrs and under will swim 50m (three of four strokes) and a 100m IM (plus optional 5th event of 200m Freestyle)
- Points are scored as follows 20, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Age group champions will keep their trophy for a year and have their name engraved into its base - it will then be passed on the following year to the new champion
